💙 The Penultimate Week of the Year 💙 Our penultimate week was full of celebration 🎉 🙌🏼 🥳 Year 1 held a celebration of the wonderful reading they have been doing with their 1:1 tutors from Chapter One 📕 👏🏻 Dolphin Class in Y3/4 gave a wonderful Ukuele performance to their parents and carers along with our guitarists who are all taught by Nick Webb, our fab Music Teacher. It was amazing to see all our talented pupils playing so beautifully 🎵 🎸 Year 5 were involved in an art workshop led by a local artist, exploring portraiture techniques. They proudly shared their future life goals in their final ‘Aspirations & Careers’ session with the Education Futures Trust. They also had an insightful cybersecurity talk from Bradley’s Dad to think about careers in technology 🎨 💻 Our super Year 6 cohort smashed their SATs scores, achieving ABOVE the National Average and showing that all their hard work has paid off. We are incredibly proud of them! 🌟 To celebrate, their photograph is in the Hastings Observer this week and they look just fabulous! We had 6 past pupils from Hastings Academy completing Y10 work experience this week and they were ALL amazing. It was so wonderful to have them back and see how far they’ve come since leaving primary 🔥 There have been lots of class treats celebrating all the pupils’ hard work 🙌🏼 Last week of term pending… ☀️ Summer picnic ☠️ Year 6 performance of Pirates of the Curry Bean 🏴☠️ Pirate Treat Day on Thursday 👋🏼 Y6 leavers’ party and assembly 💙 Our wonderful OVPA balloon arch to send our leavers on their way with the very best of luck 🤞🏻 Get those tissues ready 🥹 ♥️

Lots of new information and different experiences this week as our pupils attended their transition events. Our Year 6 pupils have visited their secondary schools and are very excited about moving on. We introduced our new school starters, with their parents & carers, to OVPA this week. All of our children practised being in their new classes for two days to help relieve any anxiety and give them lots to look forward to. There are always lots of trips in the summer term and Years 1 & 2 had a wonderful time at Drusillas Zoo this week. It looks like the adults enjoyed themselves too! Happy weekend everyone. We only have 2 weeks left of term so make the most of every day coming up! 💙

Some of our Year 6 pupils came to see us after their first transition day at The Hastings Academy to tell us what a wonderful time they had. They were excited for day 2 and we can’t wait to hear all about it tomorrow when they are back with us. Thank you for helping our pupils feel welcome and less worried about the change to secondary. Transition is so important as we prepare our pupils for the next part of their educational journey 💙

🌟🏆 Sports Day 2025 🏆 🌟 It’s been a sporting week full of healthy competition, challenge, resilience and team work 💪🏻 💙 All our pupils took part in a number of sporting activities, competing individually against pupils of similar ability and as a team in their colour groups 🔴 🔵 🟢 🟡 It was wonderful to see everyone giving it their all and showing great determination and resilience. We held 4 sports events across the age range of our school and the points were collated to give the overall results which were celebrated in assembly yesterday. 🥇 🟢 990 🥈 🔴 976 🥉 🟡 907 🏅 🔵 883 Well done to everyone who took part, to our excellent pupil sports leaders and staff helpers and to our families for being the best cheer leaders 🙌🏼 A huge thank you to Miss Yates, our PE Lead, and Wayne, our Sports Coach, for organising such a fabulous week of sporting challenge 🥰

🌟🎭🎵MATILDA THE MUSICAL 🎵🎭🌟 We have had the most fantastic day watching Matilda in London. The children have been superb and a credit to the school. The show was incredible but our favourite part was watching the children’s faces and reactions. It was such a joy. Some wonderful memories made, especially for our Year 6 pupils in their final weeks of primary 💙

🌟 Week 2 🌟 The second week of Term 6 involved some amazing opportunities and achievements for our super pupils. ♟️ A huge well done to our chess team who represented the school brilliantly at the County Finals at Windlesham House—one of the biggest competitions in the country. 🎵 Year 5 enjoyed a delightful cultural day at the Congress Theatre, where the children had the privilege of watching the London Philharmonic Orchestra perform the incredible music of Stravinsky, one of the great composers of the 20th century. 🏊♀️ Year 6 started their swimming sessions at Freedom Leisure’s pool in Rye. The pupils were brilliant and they enjoyed a different part of their PE curriculum. 🏃Athletics practice is looking good for our upcoming Sports Days on Tuesday 24 & Thursday 26 June. 💦 Our younger pupils enjoyed some water play and forest school fun in the shade as the temperature started to rise. ☀️ The forecast is looking very sunny this week so please make sure your child has sun cream on and a sun hat. School water bottles are available & refilled throughout the day to keep the children hydrated. ♥️ Happy Father’s Day to our OVPA Dads and those in father-figure roles. We hope you’ve had a lovely day. The OVPA Team 💙

🌟 A Great Start to the Final Term🌟 We’ve had a great first week back as we settle in to our final term of the school year. Our Geography topic, ‘On Our Doorstep’ is the perfect way to explore the outdoors and the local environment. There really is so much just on our doorstop! It was wonderful to invite The Education Futures Trust in to school to run an aspirations workshop with our Year 5 pupils. The children met with school nurses who discussed their roles and responsibilities, giving opportunities to trial some of the equipment they use. Sports day practice and preparation is in full swing as we prepare for our upcoming events: Tuesday 24 June: Year 3/4 @ 09:15 Year 5/6 @ 13:30 Thursday 26 June: EYFS @ 09:15 Year 1/2 @ 13:30 Make sure that you have these dates in your diary so you can come along and support your child. Sports Days are always such a fun event. Let’s hope the sun shines! Happy weekend everyone ☀️ The OVPA Team

Today, pupils from Ore Village Primary Academy headed out to show their support for local man Michael Brown (aka Brownie) as he headed off on a major bike ride. Michael is riding in honour of his daughter Roxanne and to raise money for East Sussex Ambulance Service who supported her. Michael will be heading out to Dover, Canterbury, Crawley, Guildford, Slough, Yate and back to Hastings, covering miles with just his bike and back pack. A time for reflection and a time to give back. It was a privilege for the pupils to give a special OVPA cheer and show their support for Brownie and such a worthy cause 💙 #inlovingmemory #youcandoit #proudofyou

🌍 Celebrating Diversity 🌈 In our final week of term, our focus turned to learning about diversity. We’re helping children build a strong understanding of important values like respect, fairness, democracy, and the richness that comes from living in a diverse society. 🤝 This week, we have been encouraging pupils to ask big questions, 🌟 explore new ideas, and think about their place in our shared world. With over 8 billion people on Earth 🌎 and a planet that's 5 billion years old, there’s so much to discover! 🧠✨ At the heart of this learning journey is literature that sparks curiosity and discussion. Reading remains one of the most powerful ways for children to learn and grow. Alongside books, pupils will also explore through 🎶 music, 📖 storytelling, and thoughtful activities that encourage them to slow down and reflect. 🌱 Here’s a quote to reflect on as a school community: “A community is a place where people know each other, care for each other, and help shape each other’s lives. It’s about trust, shared space, and belonging.” – inspired by Wendell Berry 🏡💬 Let’s work together to help our children feel connected, curious, and confident in a diverse world. 💫🌐 Mr Newell
