It’s been a pleasure to welcome Rich Pringle as a mentor for some of our young people, supporting emotional wellbeing, confidence, and self-regulation. Rich’s sessions are calm, supportive, and child-led, using conversation, practical activities, and creative approaches to help pupils explore feelings, build coping strategies, and feel more settled and confident in school. Year 4 & 5 started an exciting film project with the Bright Foundation. The first session went really well creating the story and script which they will film and produce themselves supported by the brilliant team. This is a really great project backed by BAFTA, Disney and the British Museum and the summation of the project will be Hastings first ever Children's International Film Festival taking place in June 2026 of which the group has been invited to. This term is packed with exciting events and visitors to enhance our pupils’ learning and expand their minds. It’s wonderful to see the benefit these cultural experiences bring and the pure enjoyment from the children. Happy weekend all Mrs Campbell & The OVPA Team 💙

The second week of term whizzes by and already there is so much learning taking place across the school 💙 Plenty of creative opportunities with Dance, Music and Art in full flow, which we know hugely benefits our pupils. We have two dance squads taking part in Time to Dance at The White Rock Theatre at the end of this term. They have been working hard, perfecting their routines ready for their big performance on stage. 💃🏻 🕺🏻 Our Chess team continue to practise regularly so they are ready for their next competition. Their dedication is admirable. ♟️ We said goodbye to Mrs Hurst on Friday and wished her well as she starts her maternity leave. We look forward to hearing about the arrival of her baby.👶🏼 Have a wonderful weekend everyone and keep up the excellent work Mrs Campbell & The OVPA Team 💙

Yesterday was a very special moment for our school community as we held our Festive Sing at Christ Church Ore for the first time. 🎶 It was an opportunity to bring pupils, staff, Governors, parents, carers, relatives and friends together, in the heart of Ore Village, on our last day of term and celebrate our wonderful children and all they achieve. ♥️ You can’t beat the sound of children singing, especially at Christmas time. The retelling of the Christmas story through readings and music was stunning. It was wonderful to have everyone joining in our selection of traditional Christmas carols truly helping us get ready for the festive season. 🎄 Thank you for joining us and we hope you enjoyed our special moment as much as we did. Happy Christmas everyone! Mrs Campbell & The OVPA Team 💙

A Christmas Message to the staff at OVPA 🎄💙 Dear all As this year comes to an end, I want to take a moment to say thank you. OVPA is a place where magic happens quietly, every single day — and that is because of you. Through your care, patience and commitment, children are welcomed, supported and helped to grow in ways that will last a lifetime. You create safe spaces, steady routines and moments of joy. You notice the small things, celebrate the big wins and keep going, even on the longest days, because you know how much your role matters. What you do may not always be visible, but its impact is profound: confidence grows, curiosity is sparked and children leave each day knowing they are valued and believed in. As you pack away this year, take pride in what you have achieved together. You have made a real difference — to children, families and one another. Rest well. Renew, replenish and refresh. We are incredibly grateful for all that you do. Thank you. Happy Christmas everyone 🎄 Mrs Campbell 💙

The penultimate week celebrated all that had been achieved this term. Learning topics were bought to a close as we reflected on all the new knowledge we have acquired over the past few weeks. It’s incredible how much progress is made in such a short space of time 🌟 Hard work certainly pays off and efforts are recognised and rewarded with our Gold, Silver & Bronze Treat Day on Monday 🎖️ A wonderful day of fun and celebration has been carefully planned for our superstar children which we are all looking forward to. Remember you don’t need to wear uniform on Monday as part of the treat. We have a whole host of amazing activities lined up for our last week of term so that everyone can enjoy the lead up to the break. It’s going to be so much fun! ♥️

🍂 The final week of November 🍂 Ahoy there Year 1 pirates who secured the class treat they had been working towards. Hard work pays off and these little shipmates certainly earned a Friday full of pirate fun 🏴☠️ Year 3 had a wonderful cultural visit to Hastings Contemporary where they are starting their ‘Pearls of the Sea’ project. This is a unique opportunity to work with local artists and create work that will be exhibited in The Contemporary for the public to view. In collaboration with the White Rock Theatre, the children will also have the opportunity to bring some of their work to life on stage. We cannot wait to see how this fabulous project unfolds 🎨 🎭 Art across the school is in full flow and I’ve already seen some wonderful pieces being produced, showcasing the creative talents of our pupils. The arts are the perfect way to express yourself and they provide a wonderful escape for so many children 💙 Tomorrow is the first day of December and the school is already starting to feel very festive. However, I think we may have some unexpected visitors in classrooms tomorrow. We need the children to keep a look out and report any funny business straight away! 🙈 Happy Sunday everyone ☀️

The reading gap Approx one in four pupils move to secondary school without having met the expected standard in the key stage 2 national reading test. This holds many of them back in secondary school, both in their English lessons and more widely across the curriculum. /1— Mary Myatt (@MaryMyatt) August 5, 2025

Great start to the year, with our local schools, for our Alliance Inset day at Bannatynes. @ModernCassie got us thinking about aligning our roles to champion SEND success & adaptive teaching. We shared successful practice & strategies, to expand our toolkit. A very positive day!— Ore Village Primary Academy (@orevpa) Jan 6, 2025
