Wellbeing
Welcome to the Wellbeing section of our school's website. At Ore Village Primary Academy, we recognise the importance of underpinning academic growth by nurturing the holistic well-being of our students.
This section provides resources, support, and guidance to help our students and their families, and to promote positive mental health practices among our school community.
Navigating the challenges of growing up can sometimes be overwhelming. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment where students feel empowered to prioritise their wellbeing and seek assistance when needed. It is very important that if you have any worries or concerns about your safety, mental health or wellbeing you talk to a member of staff. This can be your tutor, a teacher or a member of the pastoral team.
In collaboration with students, parents, staff and mental health professionals, we have curated a range of resources to signpost you to.. Whether you're looking for information on coping strategies, stress management techniques during exams, or seeking support for yourself or a friend, you'll find valuable insights and practical tools to navigate the ups and downs of life.
Our goal is to promote a culture of open dialogue surrounding mental health, reducing stigma, and creating a sense of belonging within our school community.
Explore the resources available in this section, and remember, you are not alone. Meet the team who are here to support you every step of the way on your journey through school.
Pupil Wellbeing Support
Pupil wellbeing is central to OVPA, where we teach students the tools to care for their wellbeing through the ‘5 Steps to Wellbeing’ displayed in classrooms. Daily activities like runs and discussions promote this focus.
KS2 pupils can become 'Wellbeing Ambassadors', contributing to assemblies and planning Mental Health Week while sharing ideas to enhance wellbeing. We foster strong, positive relationships, ensuring children feel safe and heard, with every class having a worry box for communication.
Fridays are dedicated to "Feel Good Friday," allowing classes to engage in enjoyable activities like art, music, and games. We celebrate individuality through Mental Health Week, Dress to Express days, and OVPA’s Got Talent, where the entire community comes together to recognise our talented pupils.
Our Wellbeing, Pastoral and ACE Team consists of:
Mrs Ferguson - PSHE & Pupil Wellbeing Lead
Miss Mills - ACE Lead
Mrs Foster - Deputy Safeguarding & Welfare Lead
Mrs North - Pastoral Support
We run our pastoral support and ACE programme from The Beach Hut and any of the staff will be very happy to help you if your child needs some wellbeing support.
TKAT ACE
What is the ACE Programme? A Champion for Every Child.
The ACE Programme has been developed to ensure that each child who is entitled to Pupil Premium funding has a member of staff (an ACE Tutor) to support them in achieving their full potential while at OVPA. TKAT ACE is a pastoral intervention which is tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual child in order to help them break down barriers and support them to achieve.
Our ACE Tutors take time to get know their pupils and families. ACE sessions include a variety of exciting activities, games and activities to support children. All pupils have access to The Beach Hut which is a designated space for all things pupil wellbeing - from calming activities and cozy corners to a safe space to talk and play - an ACE Tutor is always available to support with pupil wellbeing.
